Delete your account in the app
On Android, open Pepper and go to Account → Delete account. Pepper shows you what will be deleted before you confirm. To confirm, you sign in again with the same Apple or Google account you use for Pepper. If your account uses Sign in with Apple, Pepper disconnects Pepper from your Apple ID first. If that can't be done, nothing is deleted and you can try again.
You don't need a subscription to delete your account. If your subscription has ended, Account is at the bottom of the subscription screen.
On iPhone, open Pepper and go to Account → Delete Pepper account. Section 12 of our Privacy Policy explains how deletion works there.
Ask us for help by email
If you can't use the app, email hello@withpepper.au with the subject "Delete my Pepper account". Tell us whether you sign in to Pepper with Apple or Google, and whether you use it on an iPhone or an Android phone. We aim to reply within 7 days.
Pepper does not keep passwords or email addresses, so an email on its own can't show us that an account is yours. We never delete an account because of an email alone.
Before anything is deleted, you confirm that the account is yours by signing in with the same Apple or Google account you use for Pepper. Today you do this in the Pepper app: install it, sign in, and use the deletion option in Section 01. You don't need a subscription, and we'll help you through each step.
If you no longer have access to the Apple or Google account you used with Pepper, tell us. We can't delete an account we can't confirm is yours, so we'll explain what you can do, such as recovering access to that account first.
Cancel your subscription separately
Deleting your Pepper account does not cancel an Apple or Google Play subscription. Billing continues until you cancel it with the store you bought it from.
- iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
- Android: Google Play → your profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.
In Pepper on Android, if you share a household and you are the person who subscribed, your subscription keeps covering the household after you delete your account, until you cancel it.
What is deleted
In Pepper on Android, deletion happens straight away, in one step. On iPhone, see Section 12 of our Privacy Policy.
Always
- your Pepper account and its link to your Apple or Google sign-in
- your profile and photo
- your sessions and the notification registrations for your phones
- what Pepper read from your calendars
If you are the only adult in your household
Your household is deleted with your account: every item in it, everything handed to Pepper and its preparation, and the household's invitations.
If other adults share your household
Your household continues for them. Items you added stay with the household and become unassigned, and records of reminders sent to you no longer name you.
Events in your own calendars stay where they are. Deleting your Pepper account does not remove events that Pepper added to or changed in your phone's calendars.
What we keep, and why
When an account is deleted in Pepper on Android, a few records stay. This is what they are, why we keep them and for how long. Our Privacy Policy explains everything Pepper collects.
Purchase records
The record of a household's App Store or Google Play subscription: the product, the store's transaction or purchase identifiers, dates and subscription state. After deletion it is no longer linked to you or to any household. We keep it so the same Apple or Google account can bring that subscription back to Pepper later, for example in a new household. We do not currently delete these records, so we can't give an end date for them.
Items in a shared household
Items you added to a household that other adults still share stay with that household, unassigned, for as long as the household exists. They are part of its plans.
Backups and operational logs
Copies of deleted information can remain for a time in backups and operational logs kept by our database and hosting providers, Supabase and Vercel, outside everyday use of Pepper. We can't yet give an exact time for when those copies are removed.
Usage and diagnostic records
Records of how Pepper is used and performs, described in Section 14 of our Privacy Policy. We can't yet give an end date for them.
Your messages to us
If you email us, your message stays in our mailbox at Purelymail as a record of your request. We can't yet give an end date for it.
Apple's and Google's own records
Apple and Google keep their own records of your purchases under their own terms.
Removing Pepper from Apple or Google
For Pepper on Android, removing Pepper from your Apple ID or Google Account settings disconnects that sign-in from Pepper. It does not delete your Pepper account or anything in it. To delete your account, use one of the ways above.
